2004 Columbia Classic Labor Day Tournament Champions
| The Calverton Blaze is a U-14 girls team playing
in division 4 of WAGS. WAGS (Washington Area Girls
Soccer League) is the premier girls travel league in the National Capital area and is one
of the top girls leagues in the United States. We also
hire team trainers to work with our team. The team consists of highly skilled, highly motivated, athletic girls determined to make the team among the very best in the State of Maryland. The team is coached by Bob Sowers. Coach Sowers has led teams to many prestigious titles in elite competition, including the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL), WAGS, and tournaments up and down the East Coast over the past 28 years. We provide year-round training that is challenging, fun, and exciting for players that really want to excel. Our team takes great pride in developing individual skill and believes that attitude is everything--in soccer and in life. We pride ourselves on attitude, loyalty, skill, pride, and excellence, both on and off the field. Every season we win the sportsmanship award in WAGS. We apply our great work ethic and attitudes to our entire lives, not just to soccer. The Blaze team is part of the Calverton Soccer Club, a small but growing club that has grown from 4 teams to 16 since 1998. Calverton is located between I-95 and Route 29 in Silver Spring, Maryland, about 5 miles north of the Washington, DC, Beltway (between downtown Silver Spring and Columbia, Maryland). If you would like to tryout for the Blaze or sponsor the team in the future, please contact one of the coaches or the team manager for information. |
